Easy and affordable hair care tips...

Did you know that living an unhealthy lifestyle, such as smoking, lack of sleep and eating foods that lack nutrition can affect the health of your hair?

  • Hair products that contain alcohol can also wreak havoc on the health of your hair.
  • Excessive heat when styling and frequent exposure to chlorine may also dry it out.
  • Brushing your hair in a rough manor can break it off
  • Using cheap shampoo and conditioner may also dry out your hair.

Healthy Hair Care Tips:

1. Eat a healthy diet

2. Get enough solid sleep

3. De-stress as much a possible (often easier said than done)
Try a long walk outside, yoga or meditation.

4. Use hair products that contain minimal or no alcohol

5. Keep hair away from chlorine
Add a weekly clarifying shampoo treatment

6. Keep heat styling to a minimum

7. Brush hair gently
Try a wet/dry brush

8. Use shampoo and conditioner with a good PH (hair has a PH of 4.5 to 5.5, so aim to get a shampoo and conditioner with a PH balance as close to hair as possible)

There are many hair care products sold that can help bring life back to dry, brittle hair. I however, have a remedy that has helped me for years!

First of all, do not shampoo your hair every day, this does remove the natural oils from your scalp and hair and will dry out your hair over time.

Second, consider not using heat on your hair each day. When I say heat, I am referring to a blow drier, curling iron and/or straight iron.

But I do have a secret to share with you...
The next time you have a day off or you have a day when you know you will be hanging around the house for several hours, douse your hair with shine spray or hair oil and then pull it up into a bun. If you do not have long hair, douse it with the spray or oil and just let it sit in there (or put a plastic cap over your head)...just be careful not to get it on your furniture.
After several hours of allowing the shine spray or hair oil to penetrate into your hair, shampoo and condition as usual.
Whenever I notice my hair starting to look dry, I do this and it does help restore shine and moisture into my hair.
